Bolzano in autumn & winter
Bolzano is the vibrant centre of South Tyrol and in the cool season it can be really idyllic here.
Enjoy a real Italian coffee on Waltherplatz in the sunshine, when it's getting chilly everywhere else.
Shop in noble boutiques under the arcades or - for those who like something special - in the small shops in the side streets. A worthwhile detour takes you to the fruit market, to the Gothic cathedral or to the museum of Ötzi, probably the most famous South Tyrolean.
When the leaves slowly glow in all their colourful splendour, the rustic” Törggele” time starts in the Bolzano area. An absolute must for locals and visitors alike. Taste chestnuts and the "new" wine accompanied by classic home cooking in the South Tyrolean Hofstuben.
Winter is marked by the famous Christmas market at Walther Platz.
Experience the unique atmosphere and discover the many typical delicacies and small handicraft items at the stalls.
All the other Christmas markets in South Tyrol are also easily accessible by train or bus.
Take advantage of the fact that four ski areas are each only about 30 minutes by car from Bolzano and experience fun on the slopes in the ski areas of Reinswald in the Sarntal valley, at the Rittner Horn, Obereggen and Karerpass.
